I am seeking advice on a tool roll.
I don’t like my current system of tools - it’ s hard to find what I want and when I do I seem to have to go back and pack everything back up again.
I don’t think I will be able to fit all my tools in the roll but If I can fit the ones I use most I think that could save me a lot of grief.
These will be metric car tools. I think I will keep my sockets in their box because that has worked really well for me for years but everything else. box wrenches, screwdrivers, pliers and if possible some of my electrical tools like cutters and such. Im not a light packer and this isn’t going on a bike or anything so big isn’t an issue. It’s mostly a durability and organization thing.
Anyone use something they like or seen something that might fit the bill?

I keep most of my Land Cruiser tools in a waxed canvas roll from Adventure Tool Company. Highly recommend, it’s made very well and has just enough room for all the trail tools you’d mostly need on a cruiser.

Blue Ridge makes these things;
https://www.blueridgeoverlandgear.com/collections/tools/products/tool-pouch-roll

They look pretty nice but exchange/shipping for me kills it.
I took my old Nikon kit bag and re-dutied it for truck tools;
It
carries all the wrenches, sockets, wire bits, cable ties, odds and ends I need and has different compartments and pockets.. P
lus the whole thing is small enough to fit in my r
ecovery ammo box...

Here’s a thing from when I bought it for my bike tools:

B ike tools rapidly outgrew it, now live in a rolling chest. Roll now lives in cruiser with tools n stuff.

I’ve tried a couple, but they aren’t the same layout as the one you have pictured. The ones I’ve used are more like the one below.
End result? Something always manages to fall out. I’m not a fan of this design.

I love the idea and tradition of tool rolls, but every one I’ve ever tried let stuff fall out and if they get wet your tools rust easy.

I keep one of those in each of my vehicles with basic tools. Cheap and very durable. Not super organized though.

I’ve got one of those as a husky, but bigger. I tried sub bags, but that just means pulling out 5 bags and then hunting. Maybe the answer is one sub bag with only my basic tools and the rest in the husky.

I’ve got one of their map pouches I I used a tool bag for smaller maps (love it!) but Their stuff is spendy. huh, I went looking for the map pouch but I can’t find it. Its perfect size for those atlas map books and has kept my maps in great shape, then I velcro my natgeo maps on the outside. I love having it.

I use as many multi-purpose tools as I can to keep the numbers down and keep sockets in a sub bag. I tried the multiple bag thing before and nothing ever got put back in them.

I can’t do multitools, it drives me nuts to be on the trail trying to use a GP tool when the specific one is at home.

I have this Bull Tools one I ordered off Amazon a few years ago. It’s held up very well. It’s canvas, so you can’t exactly leave it out in the rain but the upshot is that it’s machine washable. It’s held up pretty well. It's $19 and there's a million colors available.
